Default Ice Fishing at Sand Lake

So I just wanted to let everyone know that today I went Ice fishing out on Sand Lake here in Anchorage and the ice was plenty thick. We got out a little late in the day, moved around a couple times and didn't catch any fish but it was still fun. We did see a couple large rainbow trout (12"-14") swimming around and had a few nibbles but missed them all. I am looking forward to going back.

Anyone else been out ice fishing yet? Any luck?

Jim

Default Jewel Lake

Hey everyone,

I have decided that today in this nice warm weather I will try ice fishing over at Jewel Lake. Hopefully the catching will be a little better there. I will share with everyone my results when I return. Wish me luck.

Jim

Default Bait?

I heard there are some "secret" baits that suck in the trout there. Any ideas?

Default

I just bought some dyed and scented shrimp from B&J commercial that I am going to give a try this weekend, if I get the time. They look like they should work well but they were a little on the pricey side, $3.00 for a small pack, and I mean small. But if they work, I will definately be buying more.

Anyone ever use these before? Any luck?
What do you guys find works best?

Default Ice Fishing with Colored Shrimp

I have used the dyed & scented shrimp before while ice fishing and had great luck. Just normal shrimp from the grocery store seem to work well too. That is at least at the local lakes.
